Oz Asunder
What if Oz was a side-scroller beat-em-up RPG?
This is what Oz Asunder tries to imagine. A cruel world corrupted by power and world where you as Dorothy gets the choice to help the inhabitant of the land fight back or become their next ruler after defeating Oz yourself.
A collaboration with Mary McLaughlin.
Lioness Prototype
Finding a costume for an anthropomorphic lion was a challenge, but what helped was the implementation of a mane. Styling a hairdo gave each design so much personality, each could be a character in on itself!
Most inspired by fantasy barbarian armor, others have real inspiration from traditional African garbs, mixed in with fantastic elements.
Companion Design : Cowardly Lion
We turned the Cowardly Lion into a Lioness for some diversity, emphasizing the strength she would require to rule over other beasts and creatures in her Jungle. Her expression still stays somber, scared and displeased of her role in the crumbling world of Oz.
Will you help her and fix her decaying queendom or will you harvest her power to fight the mad wizard?
Lioness Action Poses
A melee fighter that uses her massive hands and claws to deliver devastating attacks, the Lioness was designed as the DPS fighter, focusing on quick bursts of immense power but with no armor.
Still in certain poses you can still see her shyness and sadness, being an unwilling participant in a war she didn't choose for herself.
Dorothy : Bad Ending
Being an RPG we wished to display what your bad choices would lead to by changing the appearance of your character model. By accumulating trinkets and pieces of your fallen foes you could grow stronger...but at the cost of your humanity.
Lioness Land : Enemies
The Jungle has been mutated by Oz's green sludge and crystals, making the once friendly creatures under the rule of the Lioness brutal monsters.
They may be beastly, but have you ever considered they may have been once sentient and full of hopes just like you?
Scarecrow Land : Enemies
Once citizen of the land of the Scarecrow, this animal creatures are now shambling corpses oozing with poisons and goo after the ruler of this land has attempted horrible experiments in the search for a cure to Oz's corruption.
There's not much you can still do for them...
Tinman Land : Enemies
Efficent and laborous, this are the Tinman's loyal guards and workers, programmed to protect the land from outsiders and incoming attacks from the external forces since the start of the Oz conflict.
Marvels of engineering, they make quite the funny sounds when struck with a sword.
Emerald City : Enemies
Mutated by the green emeralds that form the city, every critter is now hostile and made to hunt you down!
They may pretend to be helpless old men or friends in need, but in reality they are just using trickery to make you their meal. Was this city always this hostile to new comers...?
